What is the difference between a router and a switch box? I want to hook my Wii up to Internet.?
I need to hook up my Wii console to the Internet. Its has a wi-fi connection. Can I get a wireless switch box, and then have my wii connected to my switch box. My switch box is what connects my PS2 and PC to internet, but they are not wireless, so thats why I am asking, or do I get a router. My Dad already has a router that hooks up the internet though out the house. It won’t work with the Wii, I know this because my Nintendo DS won’t connect, it says security settings prohibit access. I asked him, but he doesn’t want to mess with the network. If I bought a wireless router, would that be just like my switch box. Would I connect the water to the jack, and then connect my PC, PS2, Nintendo DS, and my Wii console up to my wireless router. Does a wireless router still come with plugs to plug things that aren’t wireless. So the main question is, should I get a wireless router, or a wireless switch box.
intesting question, allow me to shred some light:
a switch box is just a device that you can connect may computer together, and you can’t connect it with your internet (without the router)
a router is a gateway with built-in switch box (that’s why you see on the back of the router, there are mostly 4 ports labeled 1 – 4)
The main diff is you can connect to internet with Router..but not Switch box.
Now you know the diff, you can decide which one to buy, can’t u?
