I’m buying a canon S2 IS…need help with memory card.?
I plan on getting a 1GB secure digital memory card. I read somewhere that to use the canon to it’s fullest the card should be 60x or more. What is this and does it really matter? The prices for a 1GB card vary greatly from, $30 to like $100. I want to get what’s best for my camera while not breaking my wallet.
I want a big card because I like taking video as well. And I’m going on vacation for a week.
There are different speeds for SD cards. 60x is about middle of the road compared to what is out there.
I had a Nikon Coolpix 5900 for a while and a 512 MB that I never had problems with. It would bog down with continuous shots after a few, but I rarely used that feature.
I just got a Kingston 1 GB that is about a 16x SD card that I use in my Nikon D50 and it works great. I may eventually pick up a 60x 2 GB or higher for it, but the extra speed isn’t something that I am in dire need.
I highly doubt you will be either.

I would stick to brands like Scandisk, Kingston, PNY.
Check www.pricegrabber.com for cheapest prices. Buy.com, where I got my 1 GB Kingston for $19 and free shipping is no longer running the speacial. But that is what Price Grabber is for.
