I might go with a 8800 GT, and replace the current Graphics card

Yes if I were you I’d definitely ditch the HD 2400, as it’s a horrible card used only for the purpose of getting a monitor or two to actually work. It’s hopeless for gaming.
And the 8800 GT is a perfect choice.

My question is, where are you getting this system from? Are you assembling it yourself, or getting it from a manufacturer. Because you could save yourself some money by not taking the HD 2400 at all, rather than replacing it after.

The only other problem I see is with your RAM. It’s 3 GB. Don’t do 3 GB. You should instead get 2 GB of dual-channel RAM (2 x 1 GB), or even 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) if you’re going to be running Vista and if you can afford it.

And don’t forget about your operating system. I’m assuming you’re going with Vista. If you can spend a bit more, try to get Vista x64, as its optimized to run with 64-bit processors, and some games will require x64 to run at highest settings.

EDIT:
About the comment below me…
computers don’t care whether or not your memory is made by OCZ, Corsair, Ultra, G. Skill or whoever! All they care about is speed, timings, and placement. There’s something called ‘dual-channel’, and it theoretically doubles the throughput of your RAM. You can only run dual channel when you have a pair of two of identical sticks. It is physically not possible to have a pair of sticks that give you 3 GB. Therefore, if you put in 3 GB, your dual channel won’t work.
Try it out for yourself. If your motherboard has 4 memory slots, put your DIMMs in slots #1 and 2 or 3 and 4. Run a benchmark. Then put them into #1 and 3, or 2 and 4 (they should be the same colour) and run a benchmark. You’ll see that running in dual-channel gives you a big performance increase.

EDIT2:
Ya, thanks for clarifying. As you said, it’s entirely feasible to run 3 GB of RAM, but then you’d cut off your dual channel. It also matters what you want to do. For gaming, 2 GB of dual channel RAM would probably be faster than 2.5 GB on non-dual channel.
