secure digital card formats
I have a question about my PNY sandisk 4gb memory card?
ok…so I have a Kodak Easyshare C743…I had a 1.0 GB for it made by Polaroid. It works fine but I bought a PNY 4.0 GB HC card for my trip that I’m taking so I had a card for pictures and another one to shoot video with. I put the 4.0 card in and it said it needed to be formated…I thought this was alittle weird since it never said that before but I did as it said…thing is the formating screen comes up and then goes away…I put it into shoot mode and it says that the card needs to be formatted…what am I doing wrong?

Put it in a card reader and see if anything is on it. My CF card for my XTi came with a program on it and had to be deleted in the computer before it could be used.

Your camera probably does not support SDHC. Kodaks website lists a 2 gig card for your camera as an option (but to be fare thats the largest card on their site). Some cameras cant take more than 2 gig, but should still be able to use a 4 gig but only 2 would be used. I have never tried this and it could be a myth.
If you formatted your card in the computer you may have screwed it up that way. The computer will put a tiny amount of info on the card (basically names it and tells everything else that its made for the computer).
Bottom line, take your camera and card to a real camera shop and ask them. Play dumb if you have to but don’t do anything foolish, like buy a new camera to fit your current card.
