Meeting growing energy demands with AAA rechargeable batteries
AAA rechargeable batteries or as they are simple known as the “triple A batteries”, have been a very cost effective solution to satisfy energy demands for household products. The quest for technological progress just keeps going on and with this speedy progress the need for power and energy just keeps growing. Since its introduction in the market AAA rechargeable batteries have helped in reducing production costs and reducing environmental hazards considerably which was otherwise a major concern when dry-cell batteries were being used massively and disposed.
However, reducing production costs does not necessarily mean that manufacturers have the freedom to produce these batteries the way they desire. Because honestly who wants AAA rechargeable batteries which do not fit right into their appliances or cause environmental hazards.
Since the intervention of ANSI (American National Standards Institution), they have adopted strict guidelines to abide by for these batteries manufacturers.
Some of these specifications are:
- These batteries should not measure more than 44.5mm in length and 10.5mm in diameter.
- The weight of these batteries should not be more than 14-15 grams each.
Apart, from these guidelines the operating voltage of rechargeable batteries is less compared non-rechargeable AAA batteries. That is 1.2 volts compared to 1.5 volts respectively. This is understood as rechargeable batteries are designed to last a life time. As far as design is concerned AAA rechargeable batteries are composed of a single chamber, hence they are also known as or referred to as a cell.
AAA rechargeable batteries are available in two forms: NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) or NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride). Both these types of batteries are non lethal and produce a good energy supply to meet all the energy demands for your household products and gadgets. AAA rechargeable batteries are popularly in demand for use in TV remote controls, MP3 players and digital cameras.
