DVD Drive diagnostic utility?
As I seem not to have communicated my needs very well in my previous question , let me try another tack:
I’m looking for a diagnostic utility that will let me interrogate a CD/DVD drive, and hopefully get low-level information from it.
I have a Nec ND-1100A CD/DVD writer drive that has stopped recognising DVD disks, including DVD data disks.
IT WORKS FINE WITH CDs, audio or data, but it just can’t see DVDs at all anymore. I’m hoping to get the drive to tell me what’s bothering it.

In a combo drive such as yours, there is a separate laser for CDs and DVDs. My guess is that you DVD laser is out of alignment or dirty.
As for a utility, I’m sorry but I’ve never used one such as you desire.
