Cell phone giant Nokia has filed for a patent in the US for a self-charging cell phone Nokia battery. Officially dubbed Piezoelectric Kinetic Energy Harvester, the idea involves a battery that’s mounted in a larger frame and isolated from it by piezoelectric elements. Thus, kinetic energy is used to produce electricity to “at least partially recharge the device battery.”
Phones themselves could have integrated piezoelectric elements to provide further energy for the battery. The idea is similar in theory, if not execution, to kinetic powered watches, which use motion to charge their batteries. According to the Nokia patent, larger components inside the phone, such as the radio transmitter and battery travel along two sets of rails, one that travels horizontally and one that travels vertically, before hitting a capacitor that charges the battery.
Lithium-ion batteries are basically used in electronic devices. It is one of the two most common batteries in the market. Since, lithium-ion batteries are heavy-duty, a Nokia cellular phone battery, is durable and top quality. It has zero memory effect and slow to discharge when you are not using it. Because of its high-energy density, Lithium-ion batteries are increasingly used in other fields, like automotive, defense, and aerospace.
A new NOKIA BL-5BT Mobile Phone Battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use (refer to the devices manual for charging instructions). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the digital camcorder NOKIA BL-5BT may require three to four charge/discharge cycles before achieving maximum capacity. The time of the charge must be no less than 12 hours for the first three times.
It is important to condition (fully discharge and then fully charge) the Nokia BP-6MT every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the battery’s life (this does not apply to Li-ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run the device under the battery’s power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user’s manual. If the battery will not be in use for a month or longer, it is recommended that NOKIA BP-6MT be removed from the device and stored in a cool, dry, clean place. It is best to keep your Nokia cellular phone battery from extreme weather conditions. Too much heat or too much cold can damage any cell phone battery. During extreme heat, there is risk of the battery overheating. In severe cold conditions, dew can develop around the battery when the cold begins to dissipate and this can potentially damage the battery and the cell phone.
