Just some cool little trivia:
Did you know that if you have not “exercised” your laptop battery for say six (6) to twelve (12) months, chances are permanent damage has already occured and you will likely not be able to recover from the high discharge due to no use. Lesson here is to exercise and condition your battery at least once a month to keep your laptop battery in good condition.
Although Li-Ion batteries are not affected by memory loss as the older NiCads and NiMhs are, they do still need conditioning and maintenance. Be sure to store your Li-Ion batteries in a cool and dry place and regularly condition with a drain to about 40% to retain charging abilities. Frequent charges help maintain a Li-Ion battery compared to the deep conditioning of the NiCad and NiMh batteries
NiCad batteries tolerate charging in extreme temperatures compared to other battery chemicals, but should be done within 5°C and 45°C or 41°F and 113°F but 10°C to 25°C or 50°F to 77°F is better for the battery. However, NiMh batteries do not like extreme temperatures for charging. They cannot be charged fast below 10°C or 45°F, and cannot be charged slowly below 0°C or 32°F.
If you turn off or remove devices that you aren’t using and shut down programs running in the background, you can save on battery power. Many USB devices use power just by being connected. If you use a mouse, you can save power by disconnecting the mouse and using a touch pad or tablet pen. If you use a flash drive, unplug it when you’re not using it. Reduce your screen settings to battery power save mode or your entire laptop setting to battery save mode to reduce the drain on battery.
