How effective AA NiMH batteries when used as D batteries with an adapter in a toy?
I have used the adapted 1.2V rechargeable AA’s in my son’s “Hot Wheels” car set. The toy requires a thrust to push the cars around a loop. The “thrust” doesn’t seem to be too strong. Would true D alkaline batteries provide more “power” to the toy, or is it just a case of how long the charge will hold in the adapted AA’s?
Both.
Recharchable batteries provide 1.2 V vs 1.5 of a non-recharchable alkaline battery, so yes, you don’t have enough “power”.
Also AA provide less mAh than a D battery, so they will not last as long.
