What does “mAh” mean on a laptop battery mean?
I’m looking to replace the battery on my IBM ThinkPad 240 and from what I can tell, it’s offered in 3400 mAh, compared to the 1400 mAh that came with it. I guess I have a few questions…
1. What does “mAh” mean?
2. What will the higher number translate to in terms of how long I can run my computer? Will it run (3400/1400) times longer than it did using the 1400 mAh battery when it was brand new?
3. Is it even worth spending about $50 to replace the battery on a laptop as old as this?
1. mAh stands for Milliamp Hour, a technical term for how much power a particular battery will hold.
2. The higher the number, the more longevity.
3. I don’t think it’s worth it if you use it in an office/home most of the time, but if you travel where there’s no accessible plug, it’s worth it.
