maglite batteries stuck

maglite batteries stuck
Any thoughts on removing corroded batteries from a MagLite flashlight? Tried baking soda to no avail – Thanks!

Someone had posted elsewhere that if it’s a MagLite you can send it back for free warranty repair… It is but they don’t warranty battery leakage…. help! It’s a great flashlight but after last winter I put it away and didn’t check it again until now… just when I was preparing for a big storm that’s coming.

Thanks!

Added: Thanks for your help. Problem is the batteries are stuck inside and I have not been able to get the batteries out. The corrosion seems to have cemented the batteries in-place. And it seems you can only open the bottom end of the tube not the top and therefore can not push them out.

Not too sure on the brand of batteries – I usually buy Duracell or EverReady but can’t honestly recall.

WD-40 just might cut right through that corrosion. Be careful when squirting it, though, not to get it on any exposed wiring.
