which inverter battery is better – VRLA SMF BATTERIES or LEAD ACID BATTERIES ?
VRLA SMF is a valve regulated, sealed maintenance free battery. The electrolyte is in the form of a paste or gel and can’t spill. My personal experience is that a gel cell battery has a limited life of about 10 years. See the link below.
A wet lead acid battery does need water on occasions, but can have a 20+ year life span. If treated right, this type of battery does an excellent job. This is what has been used by most phone companies as battery back-up for years and years.
