Is variety the spice of Life? And how much is too much?
We used to only get three channels on TV (four counting PBS). The Beatles taped with four-tracks to great effect (Sgt. Pepper is still considered a pop masterpiece), Apollo launched Men to the Moon on a ten-count, Walt Disney had released 21 animated classics by 1964, 28 flavors of ice cream were famously offered at Howard Johnson’s restaurants (then Baskin-Robbins boasted 31), Heinz came along with 57 varieties while Bruce Springsteen sang about 57 channels (and nothin’ on), and Tom Petty exclaimed that “Too Much Ain’t Enough.” There were 101 Dalmations (all look-alikes), an illustrated book about 1001 uses for a dead cat, and there must have been at least 9,000 Elvis Impersonators by now. So, how many pairs of shoes must a woman own, and how many Amoronicans does it take to screw in a twisty light bulb? Give me your statistics.
Two stereo channels (count ‘em, 2, left and right) always satisfied me.

Cassette tapes, eight-track tapes, sixteen channel recorders, 48 channel mixer boards, stereo, quadraphonics, The Who’s Quadraphonia, 4 bit, 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, 64 bit processors…everything in gazillion-channel surround-sound…
It only takes two…one to play the song and one to dance to the rhythm.
