Floppy Drive
Where is my floppy drive and how do I know what kind of modem I have?
I was going to back up some audio files so I could free some space and straighten up the clutter in my desktop, but then it asked me to put a disk in my floppy drive….I thought those were obsolete and extinct….but then I looked and I couldnt find it….so I thought, why would a program on my pc tell me to do something if it wasnt there….So I did a help and support search for the hardware and details of such on my system and sure enough, it says I have a couple installed….BUT I cant find them anywhere! would they be in the back of my tower?
OK, then I wanted to know if my pc came with a dsl modem installed (I just bought my HP Media Center less than a year ago and ,of course, the salesman said it was top of the line) but I dont know how to find that out….
And last (probably not) but not least, is it possible to make my desktop wireless for internet?
DSL modems do nto come with a computer. They are usually supplied to you by your internet provider. As long as you a Network Card you are good to go (looks like a plug for an oversized telephone jack).
Weird how your computer says you have a couple of floppy drives (more than 2). Possibly you were looking to your CD drives in the device manager. Some new computers still come with floppy drives installed, however, sometimes they are hidden on the front of your computer. There may be a plastic part you can slide up or down to reveal a floppy drive.
If you do not have a floppy on your PC i would recommend buying a flash drive. You have alot more space on them than a floppy and they work in any PC via a USB port.
