Beatles Fans, Do You Rarely Listen to Their Early Stuff?
I like the Beatles but I virtually no interest in their Rock and Roll, Beatlemania, “early” stuff. There are good songs in there but I don’t bother with much of anything before Revolver. Then again, I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore fan, so I am wondering, how do most Beatles fans view their earlier work? Do you listen to it as much or more than their albums from 1966 onward or are those early albums not in your rotation as much?
I think the Beatles can be viewed as two different bands : pre-’Revolver’ and post-’Revolver’.
Like you, I have little interest in their early work. It’s not bad, but it’s not for me. The musical leap they made with ‘Revolver’, and more specifically beyond it, is absolutely incredible. That material is more entertaining to me.
