What are those double black cables you drive over for?
I have been seeing all over town this past week these double cables that cross the road that you drive over. What are they for??? I must have driven over about 20 of them on my way to work.
They are conducting traffic surveys to determine the number of vehicles that cross that point. They review the data and determine not only the number but how many during specific hours. The use the data to determine if the roads design can handle the traffic for it’s size and if a project is proposed in that area, they know how much it will impact traffic and determine if the project will have to pay for road improvements as part of the permit approvals by the municipality having jurisdiction.
