Electricity problem? HELP!?
2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel 5.9 Cummins. 80,000 original miles. All fuses good. Two brand new batteries. Nothing left on, keeps not starting. We can’t figure out where the energy drain is. Can’t be the alternator, but when we leave it for more than a day, it won’t start. We get the turn-over, but it’s real slow. We can jump it, and everything is fine. If it was the starter, it wouldn’t jump, right? (I’m asking) Should I test the starter connections? What next?

Sir: check your fuse box for the circuit that is causing the drain while the vehicle is off. Suspect the Glow Plug relay being stuck because it’s feed is a constant hot even though it’s acutation is through the key switch. you could always put your finger on one of the glow plugs after the vehicle has long been cold. If it is hot, replace the relay. You have two batteries so I suspect this since you would need a substancial current draw to kill two batteries in about a day.
