Can I use a webcam for taking, editing and uploading videos onto YouTube?
im thinking of getting one.
so can i record videos on a webcam and edit them in windows movie maker and such and then upload them onto youtube?
basically can i do everything with a webcam that i can do with a digital camera? and how long can webcams record videos for if they dont have a memory card?
Webcams are not like digital cameras. They have no “brain” and no internal memory.
The webcam only works with: 1) a computer, and 2) software.
The webcam is detected by your computer as an video input device, similar to a TV cable pluggued into your PC.
Once your webcam is connected, then you’ll use some software to make it work. For starters, you can use Skype to do a video call with friend.
I believe that you could also use Windows Movie Maker to make a movie from what the webcam sees. Then, you could save it and upload it to YouTube or other.
Once again: a webcam is NOT autonomous. You can’t bring it with you, take a movie, then plug it into your PC. If you want to do this, then most normal cameras (Canon, Sony, etc.) take movies as well as pictures, and you can download them to your PC. Maybe this is more what you’re looking for.
