external batteries for laptops- can i use 12 “D” batteries in series to work?
i want to connect an external battery to my old computer (it is not worth buying a new battery) Power supply makes 18 volts (but the internal battery says 10.5 volts) Do you think if i made 12 “D” batteries in series (18 V) -and use the regular plug on the back- would this work ? ………………………………..The rechargable batteries have from 2200 mah to 4500 Mah (miliamps per hour.) If my computer takes 3 amps – then will it last 1 hr ? ………………….
I have only tried this for a set of computer speakers with built in amplifier, but it worked fine. your laptop though might be a bit more sensitive.
