New business and making money?
I’m a digital artist and producer. I’ve have created multiple websites already, coding with CSS/PHP/HTML and Flash. I’ve designed for people like Dawn Richard of Danity Kane (check myspace), Francesca Ramirez (upcoming musical artist) and I’m working with many other upcoming artists and help with promotion and advertisement.
The thing is, now I want to make money. I started off doing it for free because it was fun, but now that I know people will request me and like my work, I’m ready to begin charging for my services.
I have a website registered and ready made, but I’m unsure of a couple things. First, how can I create a service like any other online store, where I have things available for people to pay with credit card, paypal, etc? Not sure how to get a system like that running on my site.
Second, any advice as I begin this new..journey?
Learning how to set up paypal is not very difficult. The details are on the Paypal website and very straightforward. With designing websites you likely won’t have buttons like on a product website but will invoice your customers because the prices will vary on the amount of work needing done and the complexity of each project.
Do make sure you create a contract with each client and make sure you take deposits on large projects.
Other than that, make sure you set up a sound business plan – it doesn’t have to be complicated, but to be successful you must set goals and have a plan to achieve them.
Find a mentor – look for someone who has been where you are. There are likely plenty of forums in your industry. If you’re looking for a general business forum, you might try Small Business Ideas Forum.
