charging caravan batteries
10 POINTS IF YOU ANSWER THIS QUESTION!!!!! WILL A 12V SOLAR PANEL CHARGE A SEALED LEAD ACID BATTERY?
will a 12v solar panel (the ones used to charge caravan batteries) charge my 2.9Ah 12v Sealed lead acid battery?
as i was planning to buy a 12v solar panel from either maplins or Ebay
the best answer explaining why i can or cant do it will be awarded 10 points!
To fully charge a lead/acid battery, you would need a bit more than 12 Volt, usually 13.2 Volt.
Many Solar panels which are rated at nominal 12 Volt can deliver up to 14 Volt in direct sunshine, and at perfect angle to the sun.
So, the answer is, under ideal conditions, you can. Under less ideal conditions, the battery will not be charged to its fullest capacity.
