charging batteries parallel
Can I hook up 12 volt batteries in series paralled simultaneously?
I have 5 12 volt batteries in series now (60 vdc); but also want parallel them for additional amperage capacity. Is this possible? And, if possible, can I also wire a parallel charging circuit to charge all five simultaneously?

You can only connect batteries is a single string in series OR parallel. NOT both. To attempt to connect the same batteries in both parallel and series at the same time would create a short circuit that could be very dangerous due to the voltage and/or current. There would be no way to charge anything like this.
You can connect the 5 batteries you mention in series to create your 60 volt battery. Connect another set of batteries in series and create another 60 volt battery. You could connect both of these battery sets in parallel. This would effectively give you two 60 volt batteries in parallel and double your current capacity.
Any charger would have to meet the voltage and current needs of any battery combination you created. You’ll need a 60 volt charger to charge a 60 volt battery, etc.
All batteries, however you connect them, need to be the same capacity and chemistry.
Obviously, you can also use higher amperage batteries in your original string to give you more capacity. Make sure the wiring is capable of the current draw.
