How much are my Beatles’s albums worth?
I was at the thrift store today and picked up some vinyl stuff, and I was wondering how much two of the albums are worth.
One of them is an oringal copy of Revolver, really good condition.
The other one is in fair condition and is “Beatle Mania! In The U.S.A.”
It also says “The Liverpools – Wyncote W9001″
Not sure what that other stuff means, so if you could help me out there too that’d be great! So what are the estimated value of these if anything really at all? Thanks!!
“Beatle Mania in the USA” is by a soundalike band called the Liverpools. Value: nothing.
“Revolver”, like any album, will have a value dependent upon condition and desirability. First and foremost is the condition: is the cover bent, torn, ripped, written on, etc? Is the writing on the spine legible? Is the vinyl worn, scratched, cracked, warped? You want as near-mint as possible for the best value. Any wear and tear, like ring wear, scruff marks, etc. will detract from the worth.
And there were several label variations – the original pressings were the black Capitol label with the rainbow ring. Then there was the Apple label, Purple Capitol, Orange Capitol, etc. And short-lived variations like the Green Capitol label. These can have different values as well.
Mono vs. stereo is also a big factor, with mono almost always worth more.
Assuming you have a stone-cold mint mono copy of the Capitol rainbow (followed closely by the Green Capitol, which was short-lived), you might be looking at $50-90. With wear and tear, other labels, etc. the value drops markedly, with most copies you find in the $10-15 range. If it’s in really bad shape, or unplayable, it’s probably not worth anything. People think Beatle records in any condition at all are valuable, but collectors are not interested in beat up, worn out copies, obviously.
