beatles tab music
How do you read guitar music, such as tabs, etc?

I have some guitar tabs for Underoath, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and the Beatles, but I have no idea how to read them. Does anyone have a tutorial, or can anyone tell me how to read them and what to look for? I’m just learning to play an acoustic guitar, so any help would be very appreciated<3

A ‘tab’ is merely the fretboard layed out flat. When you look at a tab you will notice that there are 6 lines. Each of these lines represents a string. The bottom line represents the Low E string whereas the top line represents the High E and you have the strings in between.

Now, the numbers on the lines represent the fret number. So if you have a tab that reads the number 5 on the bottom line. That means to play the 5th fret on the Low E string. If you have the number 12 on the second line from the bottom it means you play the 12th fret on the ‘A’ string. If you have numbers on different lines that line up vertically it means you play all those notes at the same time. So if you have a tab that reads a 3 on the bottom line and a 5 on the second line, and the 5 is directly above the 3, you would play the 3rd fret on Low E and the 5th fret on the ‘A’….this is a ‘bar-chord’. Very common in rock music.

You might want to draw an empty tab sheet while you read this and insert the numbers where i have provided examples…..it will make more sense once you see it

That’s the basics of tabs. Keep playing and you’ll soon see its the easiest way to learn a song.

Also, check the tab for the proper tuning as some bands use lower tuning such as Drop-D

The surviving members of the Fab Four spent much of the 1990s belatedly reuniting to document, promote, and occasionally awkwardly burnish their unparalleled pop music legacy. This double-disc anthology of live-in-the-studio performances originally recorded specifically for the BBC during the most frantic years of early Beatlemania was the first chapter in that effort and the first issuance of pre…

Anthology 2 doesn’t disappoint. Outtakes and demos show the building of songs like “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite,” while the pure pop song writing of Rubber Soul a…

John Lennon was celebrated for the ornate and avant-garde adornments he brought to the Beatles, but he also at times responded to a powerful impulse to strip his music to its raw essence. Indeed, Lennon would have flourished in the unplugged era, when the nakedness of his best lyrics and the cutting directness of his astonishing voice would have been in the fore. Since John never got around to doi…
