What does it mean to be awake at all times, in your life, and why is this essential?
i feel that life is a waste of time if we do not conciously live in ‘the bigger picture,’ and appreciate the magic of life. religion can be boring, dry. life is an adventure tremendously more action-packed and genius than the greatest author could possibly write. keeping that ‘awe’ inside of us, as we look at creaton is a teeny example…would love to know what others feel. my favorite line – from a Beatles’song illustrates what i mean: “Because the sky is blue, it makes me cry.’ being a good human being, giving to others, caring about more than just ourselves is what, to me, spirituality is. practical, isn’t it? notice the magic!
I agree with you about what true religion is – so does the Bible – see Isaiah 58 and the two great commandments in the New Testament.
Hopefully, my wakefulness will allow me to receive blessings like the blueness of that sky, and to be a blessing to others.
I love what “Davidness” says – many of us have had that feeling. I recently came to the conclusion that it’s because we want that glorified body that God’s Word promises to those who will accept his grace and walk in His ways. The ultimate space program will require no money or special technology. I know it sounds amazing, but there must be some reason certain longings have been put in our hearts!
“…and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Please seek God’s face on this and all other important matters – He promises to be found.
Also, our lives are so short. There is no time to waste – take this from a person who has wasted a lot of it.
Solomon said this, “…a man has no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that will cheer him in his work all the days of his life.” Ecclesiastes 8:15
In one Bible version he said, “When I studied to become wise, I discovered that a man can work at it day and night, hardly ever sleeping, and still not be wise. No matter how hard a man tres, he can never fully understand why things happen the way they do or why God permits certain things and not others. Even if a wise man says he understands, he cannot really comprehend it all.” Eccl. 8:16
