beatles christmas messages

What is the meaning/message behind the song “I Am the Walrus” by the Beatles?
I received the Magical Mystery Tour CD for Christmas, and as I was listening, I got a little scared. it seemed they wrote down random words.
The Walrus refers to the story “The Walrus and the Carpenter” by Lewis Carrol (Through the Looking Glass, Alice in Wonderland)
John said he made a mistake, the Walrus shed false tears while eating oysters, crying at their misfortune.
So the Walrus was the bad guy. Later as the Beatles were about to break up, in his song “Glass Onion” he says: “the Walrus was Paul”. After all, it was Paul who quit, breaking them up, NOT Yoko.
As far as the drugs? They don’t put anything in your head that isn’t already there. They may make things come to the surface. But they don’t create things.
John was very visual and used imagery freely. I think you are missing the point, or dealing with your own inner demons if you think this song is “scary”. Like an ink-blot used by a psychiatrist.
True art does not tell you what to think. It is a catalyst to encourage your mind to move freely where it will.
I think “I Am the Walrus” is a masterpiece of music and one of their best songs.
No accounting for taste…
