batteries round rock
What’s a “sea squirt”?
Had bought some live rock with a couple of sea squirts on them. They round, orange and rough textured, and the size of a “D” battery with a hole at the end and a blow hole at the top. They are attached to the rock and “deflate” when disturbed.
Can anyone tell me any details of these? Good or bad?
Had a salt water tank for a while, but never seen these before
Sea squirts are not related to sponges in any way they are animals. These guys are very difficult to find or even order in at LFS. These guys are actually used to detoxify water thru the Indian River (inner coastal waterway)in Florida These guys can live off pollution. They are a GREAT addition to your tank. If you can raise the young believe me you can sell them at the LFS.
They have done studies with polluted water where just two squirts cleared a 20 gallon polluted tank in less than an hour.
