How do you safely dispose of batteries? And where do they go?
Regular alkalines can go in the trash, there is nothing terribly toxic in them (duracells, energizers, rayovacs, etc.).
Any Lithium Ion, NiMH, or NiCad rechargeable batteries should be disposed of properly. Best Buy accepts these batteries, as do Battery Warehouse stores (if you have them near you). Many counties have a hazardous material recycling day too, you can call your local bureau of waste disposal to see when that might be.
