Is it bad to buy batteries from Auto Zone, Kragen, etc. for my Sea Doos as opposed to a boat/specialty shop?
Does that mean that are ‘cheap’?
While an auto battery (make sure it’s sealed) should work, it’s not recommended. According to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission:
“Never use automotive electrical parts. Use marine parts only. Use of automotive parts rather than sealed marine parts (such as alternators, starters, fuel pumps, and other electrical parts) could cause a spark that could ignite a fire.”
Also consider if you’re using a non-marine battery and something happens, your insurance can deny the claim.
