Some common applications of these are automobile starters, cars, motorbikes etc. The batteries used here are called lead acid batteries and are large, the rechargeable battery aaa is a very tiny battery used for much smaller applications such as operating a remote or any other electronic device which needs power of the order of 1.2V, though these devices are tuned to work under reduced voltages of 0.9 – 1.1 V .
The rechargeable battery aaa weighs only about 11.5 grams and is approximately 4.5 cm tall. Hence these batteries are very convenient to carry around. All rechargeable batteries have a limit on the number of times they can be recharged because of the deterioration which occurs during each charge/discharge cycle. The number of charge cycles of an average rechargeable battery aaa ranges from 500-1000 depending on the type of chemicals used and may also be affected by climate and usage.
