aftermarket batteries
can you put aftermarket subs in a 2008 mercury mariner?
i have been told putting aftermarket in to them drains and makes cells go bad in the battery. Is that true or are my sources just stupid
It depends on the size of the subs.
The electrical system of the Escape/Mariner is designed to support a rather high power premium sound system, which is a 6 speaker system plus 1 sub.
Now, depending on the size of the subs that you want to put in, you may want to have a 2nd battery added to the electrical system so as not to exhaust the one. So, partially your sources are correct.
In my Escape, I have the Mach sound system, plus an el cheapo set of 10″ subs and I’ve had absolutely no problem, and it’s been over a year.
