Does anyone know if there is an AA battery charger that charges an iPhone and Archos 5?
I am a soldier about to deploy on operations and am trying to minimize the amount of stuff that i carry. I am after an external battery charger that uses AA batteries and will power an Archos 5 and an iPhone?

anyway…not the question you asked was it. 
Not that I know of.. .and the problem is anyway,. that AA cells have less capacity than either of the rechargable cells in those units (or any similar ones). in similar situations AA’s always flatten in minutes whereas rechargables would last for hours (whenever you replace AA rechargables with standard cells in emergencies).
best choices are:
Assuming you can get 12v somewhere
- use the 12v car charger designed for those boxes
- use an inverter of some 12v supply (like the lightweight ones you get for aircraft/for PC’s) by the likes of Targus and plug in your standard PSU’s (they will nearly always work on 110v)
