3v cr2 batteries
Is my green Laser pointer Broken?
I have a £40 50mW 532nm laser pointer it uses a CR2 3v battery. When I press the switch no light comes out of it but when I look with one eye in to the barrel I can see a faint red light Is it broken or can I fix it?
I can’t exactly say as lasers are very intricate and precise so the slightest drop could have offset the laser diode or cracked the lens. Green lasers have a powerful red laser inside that is pumped into a crystal of sorts that changes its wavelength into the desired green. It is possible that this crystal has cracked or fallen out of alignment so now you can only see the small amount of the red laser that gets passed. I would say that it is broken unless you take it apart to try and find the problem, not that you have much to lose. They are a pain to take apart though especially ones that are sealed with glue.
